Little Grand Canyon

Providence Canyon state park is in Lumpkin, Georgia about two and a half hours south of Atlanta and just 40 minutes south of Columbus.  The park has been nicknamed Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon for its beautiful canyon walls.  The canyon walls are naturally painted in shades of red, white, dark and light browns, oranges, and pinks.  It is a stunning display of God’s creativity.  The canyon hike is 3 miles roundtrip. To get to the base of the canyon the descent winds down and around requiring careful steps.  Once at the base, follow the trails to the left to see the wonderful canyon views and explore the series of gullies.  The base of the canyon is flat so the walk is quite pleasant and relaxing.  The canyon floor near the gullies is often wet from the water table.  There...
